Set in 2003, Sham follows elementary school teacher Seiichi, who is accused by Ritsuko, the mother of one of his students, of brutal corporal punishment. Sensing a scandal, a reporter publishes the accusations under Seiichis real name, and the explosive story sends shockwaves across the country. As the media descends, Seiichi becomes the target of relentless public condemnation, personal betrayal, and professional ruin. Public opinion overwhelmingly sides with Ritsuko, and an extraordinary legal
